The daily mobile companion for life at UZH also won over the jury of the Best of Swiss Apps 2018. The jury lauded the app as a good guide to navigate the complex world of studying, covering all aspects of daily life at university. The jury also praised the app’s excellent execution and noted that it perfectly meets the needs of students.
In addition to the UX/Usability category, where UZH now was awarded gold, the app also won bronze awards in the categories Innovation and Functionality. It was also nominated for the Master of Swiss Apps award, which recognizes the best overall project.
UZH now was developed by UZH’s Information Technology and Communications offices and realized by the agency ubique Innovation. UX and design basics were created by the agency Eyekon.
It was designed as a mobile companion for everyday life at UZH, not only for students but also for its staff and people visiting the University. The app provides information about students’ schedule as well as public transportation connections to get from one lecture to the next, if needed. It also includes up-to-date daily cafeteria menus, a list of phone numbers, interactive site maps and the latest news and events at UZH.
The app is constantly being improved and new features will be added in the future, such as the display of exam results or the possibility for teaching staff to send direct messages to their students through the app.
