This year's summer quiz proved very popular.

The lucky quiz winners were randomly drawn by lot. Valeska Stolz has won a UZH design beach towel, Lars Weidinger a dry bag and Michaela Thallmair-Honold a water bottle. In brief interviews, the happy winners tell us where and how the prizes are being put to use.

Where do you spend your summer vacation?

In summer, I always head north for two weeks. I usually stop off in no more than two or three locations. I like to stay in each place for several days so I have plenty of time to get to know the area. As I enjoy being by the sea, I generally plan in a few days on the coast somewhere.
This year I was in Belgium, which I had never visited before.

How will you use the new beach towel?

The whole family will use it, so I imagine it will get taken to all sorts of places, the indoor pool, the scout camp, the swimming lake, the softball tournament and – latest next summer – the seaside.

What's your favorite swimming spot?

I grew up on the shores of Lake Zurich, so I'm used to swimming in lakes. That’s still where I like swimming the most.

Where do you spend your summer vacation?

This year, my girlfriend and I went on a 2 ½ week road trip – via Postojna, Slovenia, with it's beautiful caves, onward to Croatia. City by city and national park by national park, we worked our way south, until we arrived in Dubrovnik. The city's historic center has now been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known to all Game of Thrones fans, no doubt! I am currently writing this while doing my military service (also part of my summer holidays), so my longing for the Adriatic coast and its tasty mussels is all the greater.

What does your ideal vacation look like?

For me, an ideal vacation is a mixture of relaxation and work. Sitting on the balcony of my shared apartment with a good book or going swimming with friends – both are wonderful (and important too!). But eventually I remember all the countless things I put off during the semester, saying "I'll do that in the holidays". Now the vacations are here and I have no more excuses. The vacations are also a good time to increase my working hours at my job or to do military service (I should know...). So my ideal vacation is the same as all the vacations I've had so far – lovely and full of variety.

Where do you spend your summer vacation?

To balance out my work, my vacations need to involve plenty of movement, such as mountain biking, cycling and climbing. For that reason, I generally travel north in summer. In the south, it's too hot for sports activities at this time of the year. This summer, I went hiking with my family in Norway, where we really enjoyed the long days.

What does your ideal vacation look like?

On the road with my family in our camper van, without a fixed schedule. I need plenty of variety and I like being out and about, either on foot or by bike. This could be by the sea or in the mountains (or a mixture of both, as in Norway). And plenty of time for a leisurely coffee every now and then.
