The bankruptcy of the Central Office of the Student Body (ZSUZ) saw the closure of the kiosks in the UZH main building and on Irchel Campus. A working group composed of students from the University of Zurich Student Association (VSUZH) and staff from President’s Services and UZH Alumni have been working hard to find a solution to reopen the kiosks.
The group conducted a survey of staff and students to assess the demand and found that there was a clear need for good coffee and that the kiosks near the lecture halls were greatly missed.
Both kiosks will initially be operated by the company ZFV for one year, after which their profitability will be assessed. The range on offer at the kiosks differs from that of the university cafeterias, which are also run by ZFV: In addition to many small practical things needed for daily student life, freshly brewed coffee, cappuccino, café latte and espresso are available at the coffee bars. You can also choose from a variety of different types of milk: Organic cows’ milk, lactose-free cows’ milk, almond milk, oat milk or soy milk. So, whether it’s to get your brain into gear for your first morning lecture, or to take a well-deserved break during the day, visit the new kiosks – open from 7:45am to 4:15pm.
